1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy describes how Jaxx Liberty ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and protects information when you use the Jaxx Liberty application and website (collectively, the "Service"). Jaxx Liberty is an open-source, non-custodial cryptocurrency wallet. This means that your private keys, seed phrases, and funds are generated and stored exclusively on your device. We do not have access to your private keys, wallet addresses, balances, or transaction history at any time. We cannot recover your funds, reverse your transactions, or freeze your accounts.
By using the Service, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with the practices described herein, please discontinue use of the Service.
2. Information We Collect
Because Jaxx Liberty is a non-custodial application, the information we collect is minimal by design. We categorize the data we may encounter as follows:
2.1 Information We Never Collect
- Private keys or seed phrases — these are generated locally on your device and never transmitted to our servers.
- Wallet addresses — we do not store or log any cryptocurrency addresses you generate or interact with.
- Transaction data — all transactions are broadcast directly to their respective blockchain networks from your device. We do not relay, log, or store transaction details.
- Personal identification data — we do not require or collect your name, email address, phone number, government-issued identification, or any other personally identifiable information. Jaxx Liberty requires no KYC (Know Your Customer) process.
2.2 Information We May Collect
- Anonymous usage analytics — we may collect aggregate, anonymized data about how the Service is used, such as page views on our website, general feature usage patterns, and application crash reports. This data cannot be used to identify individual users.
- Device and browser metadata — when you visit our website, your browser may transmit standard technical information such as browser type, operating system, screen resolution, and language preference. This information is collected in aggregate and is not linked to any individual identity.
- Voluntary communications — if you contact us via email or through our support channels, we may retain the content of your correspondence to respond to your inquiry and improve our Service.
3. Cookies
Our website uses a minimal number of cookies, strictly limited to what is necessary for the Service to function properly.
3.1 Essential Cookies
- Cookie consent state — we store a record of your cookie consent preference so that we do not repeatedly prompt you.
- User preferences — we may use local storage or cookies to remember your display preferences, such as theme selection or language settings.
3.2 Cookies We Do Not Use
- Tracking cookies — we do not use cookies to track your browsing activity across other websites.
- Third-party advertising cookies — we do not serve advertisements and do not permit third-party advertising networks to place cookies through our Service.
- Social media tracking cookies — we do not embed social media trackers or pixels.
4. How We Use Information
The limited information we collect is used exclusively for the following purposes:
- Service improvement — understanding aggregate usage patterns helps us prioritize features, improve user experience, and optimize performance.
- Bug fixes and stability — anonymized crash reports and error logs allow us to identify, diagnose, and resolve technical issues.
- Security monitoring — aggregate traffic data may be used to detect and mitigate abuse, denial-of-service attacks, or other threats to the Service.
- Communication — if you contact us, we use the information you provide to respond to your inquiries.
5. Third-Party Services
Jaxx Liberty interacts with a limited number of third-party services. We are transparent about each integration:
- Google Fonts — our website loads typefaces from Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com). When your browser requests these fonts, Google may receive your IP address and standard browser metadata. Google's privacy policy governs their handling of this data. No other data is shared with Google through this integration.
- Blockchain networks — when you send a transaction, your device communicates directly with the relevant blockchain network. These networks are public and decentralized; transaction data broadcast to a blockchain becomes publicly visible by design. We do not control or operate any blockchain network.
We do not integrate third-party analytics trackers, advertising platforms, or data brokers by default. If this changes in the future, this Privacy Policy will be updated accordingly.
6. Data Storage and Security
Jaxx Liberty is architected to minimize server-side data storage:
- Local storage only — your private keys, seed phrases, wallet configuration, and transaction history are stored exclusively on your device. We do not maintain server-side databases containing user wallet data.
- Encryption — sensitive data stored on your device by the wallet application is encrypted using industry-standard cryptographic algorithms. Passkey authentication is required for every spend transaction, providing an additional layer of security.
- Hardware signing support — Jaxx Liberty supports Trezor and Ledger hardware wallets, enabling you to keep your private keys on a dedicated secure element that never exposes them to your computer or phone.
- No cloud backups by default — we do not automatically upload your wallet data to any cloud storage service. You are solely responsible for backing up your seed phrase in a secure, offline location.
While we implement reasonable security measures for our website infrastructure, no system is completely immune to security threats. We encourage you to take appropriate precautions to protect your device and backup phrase.
7. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Right of access — you may request a copy of any personal data we hold about you. Given our minimal data collection practices, this will typically be limited to any correspondence you have sent us.
- Right of correction — you may request that we correct any inaccurate personal data we hold about you.
- Right of deletion — you may request that we delete any personal data we hold about you. Since we collect minimal data, fulfilling such requests is straightforward.
- Right to object — you may object to the processing of your personal data in certain circumstances.
- Right to data portability — you may request your personal data in a structured, machine-readable format.
To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at [email protected]. We will respond to your request within 30 days.
Because Jaxx Liberty is non-custodial, you always retain full control over your on-device data. You can delete the application and all associated local data at any time without contacting us.
8. Children's Privacy
The Service is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or the applicable age of digital consent in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at [email protected], and we will take steps to delete such information promptly.
9. International Data Transfers
Our website infrastructure may be hosted in various jurisdictions. If you access the Service from outside Canada, please be aware that any minimal data collected through website analytics may be transferred to and processed in jurisdictions with different data protection laws than your own. By using the Service, you consent to such transfers. Your on-device wallet data, however, never leaves your device and is not subject to any international transfer by us.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, legal requirements, or other factors. When we make material changes, we will:
- Update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
- Post a notice on our website announcing the changes.
- Where feasible, provide advance notice before the changes take effect.
We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically. Your continued use of the Service after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
